This project comprised a two-storey side extension, single storey front and rear extensions, and internal remodelling.
The Client bought this house with a hope of increasing the footprint by more than 100% and turning this modest house into a modern, beautiful, and spacious home, whilst working to a tight budget. Birch Grove Engineering were brought into this project at an early stage and worked with the Client, Birch Grove Architecture, and Contractor, to carry out several rounds of investigations and value engineering to minimise costs and maximise the functionality and beauty of the house.
We were brought onto this project late once unexpected problems arose with the drainage, foundations and structure and we were able to add a single storey side and rear extension which satisfied all parties.
The timber merchant’s premises are made up of buildings with unique, historic timber roof structures. When the Client wanted to add solar panels to the roof they appointed Birch Grove Engineering to assess and strengthen the existing roofs.
